Faculty of philology

HISTORY

The Faculty of Philology is one of the first faculties of the University. It was founded in 1967 year. In different years the faculty was headed by: Candidate of Philological sciences, Associate Professor Zh.K. Ospanov; Candidate of Philological sciences, Associate Professor S.F. Vassilenko; Candidate of Philological sciences, Associate Professor A.G. Shukanov; Candidate of Pedagogical sciences, Associate Professor N.K. Kungurov; Candidate of Pedagogical sciences, Associate Professor R.I. Bikkuzina; Candidate of Pedagogical sciences, Associate Professor O.S. Salimbayev; Candidate of Economical Sciences, Associate Professor R.S. Amandossova, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor А.B. Abdualiev; Candidate of Pedagogical sciences, Associate Professor T.R. Abdykadyrova; Candidate of Philological sciences, Associate Professor R.A. Zhunsheyev; Candidate of Philological sciences, Associate Professor A.N.Turarova;  PhD M.R. Kopbaeva.

There were two departments in the philological faculty: “Russian Language and Literature” (Head of the Department was Candidate of Philological sciences, Associate Professor S.F. Vassilenko) and “Foreign Languages” (Head of the Department was Candidate of Philological sciences, Associate Professor G.N. Kaimekin). In the first years, 100 students studied at the faculty specializing in “Russian Language and Literature”, “Russian Language and Literature in the Kazakh School”.

Currently the educational process at the faculty is carried out by 4 departments; training is being conducted in 5 specialties.

ABOUT US

The faculty is provided with highly qualified scientific and pedagogical staff, today the number of faculty members working in the departments is 75. There are 2 doctors of science, 4 professors, 23 candidates of science and 24 masters of science. The team of teachers is replenished with young specialists of our graduates.

At the Faculty of Philology there is a large scientific research work on the problems of polylingual education in the context of the educational paradigm. The urgency of the problem is due to the triune language policy of our state, the need for a phased implementation of the cultural project "The Trinity of Languages", improving the quality of teaching Kazakh as a state language, Russian as a language of interethnic communication and English as a language of successful integration into the global economy.

The staff of the Faculty of Philology understands the enormous responsibility for the implementation of the strategic tasks set by the President of the country N.A. Nazarbayev, and is ready to contribute to the improvement of the educational system of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The main criterion for the activity of the faculty is the demand for graduates. Graduates of our university are competitive and in demand due to the high appreciation by employers of the quality of their education, which is provided by a qualified teaching staff, modern content of educational programs, availability of material and technical base and thoughtful organization of the educational process.

DEPARTMENTS

Currently the educational process at the faculty is carried out by 4 departments, training is being conducted in 5 specialties.

The Department of Kazakh Philology was opened on August 23, 1989 (the order of the University No. 217). In 1991, the college was opened at the faculty, where were trained in the specialty "Kazakh language and literature in schools with non-Kazakh language learning."

The Department of Russian Philology is one of the first departments of the Taraz State Pedagogical University, established in 1968. At present the scientific potential of the department is very high. The department employs 18 people, including 4 professors, 5 candidates of science, 4 senior teachers. The staff of the department is distinguished by high qualification, mobility and organizational abilities.

The Department of Practical Foreign Languages was established in April 2004 on the basis of the Department Foreign Languages in Technical and Pedagogical Specialties. The department is the servicing department, that's why it trains students of the natural science, pedagogical, historical-geographical, philological faculties and faculty of creative specialties in English and German.

In 2007, by combining the departments of the English language and the German language, the Department of German Languages and the methodology of teaching German languages were established. In August 2012, by decision of the Academic Council, the department was transformed into the Department of Foreign Languages.

THE INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

Currently, in the field of language teaching, there is a vast experience in training future specialists, establishing close ties with foreign countries. In accordance with the State Program for the Development of Education in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2011-2020, the Faculty's faculty has conducted a number of activities to introduce the world educational level into the European educational space and to achieve the world educational level in the educational process in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process. In order to determine the content of the curriculum, the range of academic mobility has expanded. We have developed partnerships with the following universities Karabük, Kastamonu - Turkey, Tomas Bata - Czech Republic. In order to implement a joint educational program and develop academic mobility on the basis of a bilateral agreement with Szeged University (Hungary), teachers and undergraduates of the Faculty of Philology exchange their experiences. Nearly 30 percent of teachers were trained in such countries as Spain, Valencia, Poland, America, Germany, Russia and Kyrgyzstan in the near and far abroad. Each year, PAS (Pacific Asian Society) organizes a special three-week summer school for students interested in the traditions and language of the Korean nation.

STUDENT LIFE

The Faculty of Philology, which is one of the fundamental training centers of the Taraz State Pedagogical University, is currently the forge of language and literature, verbal art and culture. At the faculty, such student organizations as the youth wing “Zhas Otan”, Student Union “Alliance”, “Zhaidarman”, volunteer group “We Are Together”, the Ruhaniyat debates group, girls club “Kyz Zhibek” take an active part in the cultural life of the faculty and university. The high level of theoretical and creative training of students of the faculty is confirmed by the annual high demand of our graduates in the labor market. They are in demand in various educational institutions (schools, gymnasiums, colleges, universities), in the press (newspaper and magazine editorial offices, publishing houses, on radio and television), in public service (archives, libraries, museums), in travel agencies, in companies of different profile. Works of art, reports and scientific articles of talented students are constantly published in university publications.
